This is our faithful representation of the iconic WW2 US Air Corps A3 Mechanic Cap made in 2X1 Denim and trimmed with period correct Olive Drab Herringbone. The attention to detail focused on this cap is second to none.

The cap is fitted and it comes in two sizes

S/M which fits 7 1/8 up to 7 1/2

L/XL which fits 7 1/2 up to 7 3/4

*The hats will give about a 1/4” in size with wear or just a gentle pulling on the head band area.

First, the bill is made the same way as the original hats with 3 layers of fabric sandwiched and held in place together by 19 neatly stitched rows of stitching (5 more rows that the original A3’s)

The 6 panels that make up the crown are stitched together by single needle and flat busted by hand and then we cover the seams with 1/2” 100% Cotton natural herringbone by single needle as they were done back in the day.

The Denim we utilized is old stock White Oak Selvedge it was woven in USA on old shuttle looms.

The Herringbone contrast fabric is Mill Spec, WW2 100% Cotton and dyed in the proper green.

The sewing is as perfect as it gets and then some. We stitched the hat in Olive 100% Cotton 1950’s Old Stock thread that was made back the day to Government spec.

The labels are printed on cotton sheeting just like the caps made back in the day.

The under-bill facing is Olive contrast and it features the top denim fabric pulled under 1/4” for a unique finish detail that requires lots of focus and skill to execute.

The Head Band is cut on the bias and it is constructed and sewn the same way as the A3 caps of old.

This cap will be shipped to you hand blocked and shaped by hand using steam and it will be carefully packaged in a ample size box that prevents the hat from being crushed along the way on its journey to you.
